Spelling Information
Our spelling lists come from our Reading Series called Journeys.
Spelling Tests will be given every Friday unless otherwise noted.
A new list will be handed out on the Friday before the test so that students have the weekend and the week to study.
Every Monday a Spelling Packet and Cursive Sheet is passed out. The packet is due on Wednesday and the cursive sheet is due on Thursday.
We will be learning cursive this year as it is an important skill that is needed throughout life. I highly recommend that during 3rd or 4th quarter students begin writing their words on the test in cursive. If they are not sure of a cursive connection, students may print the word immediately after it on the test.
On Thursday, a "Gold or Yellow Practice Test" sheet will be sent home for parents to give your child a practice Spelling Test. This must be signed and turned in the next day.
Your child may study their Spelling words at home and at school by clicking on the "Spelling City" website listed on the "Website" page. There is no excuse even when your child is absent as they will always have the new list at their fingertips.
